Picture holder

We can make picture holder cutting out figures and painting them with a technique called stipplin’. This technique consist on making small dots that simulates shade or solid textures, with a brush or a pen. On the picture holder we will use another technique: stencil. As you know, it’s a technique to make impressions on a surface, cutting out of the stencil the image that you want to create.
Needed materials: picture holder (wood), MDF (medium density fibreboard), brushes (an used one, a synthetic plane brush, a liner brush),acrylic varnish, acrylic colours.
1 - Cut out the bear’s shape and paint the base colours with the plane brush.

2 - We apply the stipplin’ techinque on the bear’s skin: jump on the skin with the used brush. We have to use a lighter colour than the one used on the base of the skin. If we used brown, we can use orange or yellow.

3 - With a dark colour, make the shadows of the face: ears, snout, arms and legs.

4 - We make the dots of the dress with stencil. With the liner brush, make the details (eyes, mouth, lines).

5 - Colour the picture holder using stencil technique.
