Crochet: a bag

Now I’ll show you a bag that I made some days ago. It’s a big bag, very useful to carry yarns or notebooks. I decorated it with crochet squares, but you can choose whatever you want.

Abreviations: ch=chain, dc=double crochet, sc=single crochet, st=stitch(es)

Stitches that I used: dc (for the main body of the bag), sc (for the blue border)

MAIN BODY

Make a circle until you have the size you want. Don’t increase anymore: make dc until you have the lenght you want. Make the handles in dc.

HOW TO MAKE THIS SQUARE?
Slip Chain: To close the rounds of circles or squares - pass hook over stitch (or chain), yarn over hook and pull hook through stitch (or chain).

- Make an 8ch. circle and close it with a slip chain, forming a ring.

- 1st R: Make 1ch and 12sc around the ring, using the hole to make the sc stitches. When you end the round, close it with a slip chain.
- 2nd R: Make 4ch and 1dc over every sc (you have to do 12 dc). Between every dc make 1 ch.

- 3rd R: Bubble Stitch (A New Stitch!!)
- *Pass hook through hole and yarn over hook. Pull yarn through hole. Yarn over hook again (you have 2 loops on hook), pass hook over hole and repeat 3 more times. You have 5 loops on hook. Then pass loop over hook and pull it through all loops*. You have to work in a loose way to make the bubble stitch. Make 2ch and repeat ** in the next hole.

- Make 2ch and a slip chain to close it.

- 4th R: Make a round of 3dc, 2ch, making the double crochet in each hole.

- 5th R: Make 3dc, 2ch, 3dc, 2ch and at the corners use the same hole to make 3dc 2ch 3dc.

- Make 3 double crochet and 2ch, 3dc and 2ch… until you finish with all the holes. You can make a sc border doing at the croners 2sc in the same stitch and two in the next one in each corner.
