Awesome Shapes

As you know, you can do lots of shapes with crochet. Here I’ll tell you how to do Squares or Granny Square. You can do lots of thing with them: scarfs, blankets, pieces of clothing, bags, cushions… and what you can create!

First of all, some abreviations:

ch = chain

st = stitch(es)

db = double crochet

Crochet a SQUARE:

1 - First Round: Make a 6ch, pass hook over st, yarn over hook, pull hook through st to close the 6 ch.

2 - Make a 3ch and 2 dc in the hole (circle). *Make 2ch and 3dc in the hole.* Repeat ** 2 more times. Make 2ch and pass hook over st, yarn over hook, pull hook through st to close the first round. In Fig. 2, you can see what you’ll have.

3 - Second Round: 5ch and in the next hole make *3dc., 2ch., 3dc*. Make 2ch and in the next hole repeat **. 2ch and repeat ** in the next hole. 2ch and in the last hole make 3dc., 2 ch., 2dc., pass hook over third st of the 5ch you made to start, yarn over hook and pull through st to close it. Look at Fig. 3. The yellow dots are the holes.
